Amanda is an experienced designer, with over 24 year’s horticultural experience. In 1984 she gained a diploma in Commercial Horticulture from Oakland’s Horticultural College, St Albans. Initially, she worked as a Development Officer for the London Borough of Brent, responsible for developing parks and open spaces, before starting her garden maintenance business in 1997. Amanda went on to study Garden Design and Hard Landscaping at Capel Manor College, Enfield, which enabled her to establish AJ Garden Designs.
During her time at Capel Manor, Amanda sourced plants for their RHS Chelsea exhibit, “The Garden of Night”. It was awarded a bronze medal.
When designing, Amanda’s wealth of practical horticultural experience and knowledge of plants enables her to create outdoor spaces which inspire and delight.
